With an uncertain weather forecast and the first cold weather of this autumn, eight Liskeard Ladies exchanged pleasantries with their Easyrider counterparts (heading off to Darite for their bacon butties) before setting off towards the Royal Duchy Nurseries via Herodsfoot. Lovely to have Corinne and Jude with us. Beautiful autumn colours shown off by sunshine made this ride a real pleasure and we made it to our café stop in the dry.
Ann WB had booked us tables in the Duchy greenhouse making for a spectacular setting and we happily tucked into the sort of cakes and delicacies we had all promised ourselves we would not be tempted by. And then …… was this the most noisy and most fierce hail storm in history? Amazingly, within a couple of minutes the temperature dropped by 10 degrees and we were all sent scurrying into the gift shop where we could both warm up and get some early Christmas shopping ideas.
Geoff had miraculously appeared as we were ordering our coffees and was able to give a lift back to Jude and Susie (no denying that our Ladies’ group still very much welcomes our male ride supporters!) and the rest of us sailed back along the A390. Another enjoyable and memorable ride – thank you, everyone!
