Wednesday 5th March, 2017 – pub ride to Jamaica Inn via Colliford Lake; new bikes; puncture quick fix; and beautiful sunset!

For our route click here  23 miles  600m climbed

So, for me, my first Wednesday evening ride where much of it was in day light – great news!  And it was wonderful, as we cycled past Colliford Lake to watch the sun set (as well as the sihouettes of the Highland cattle – sadly not captured on camera).

Dave Ball and I have had our new bicycles since Christmas and both of us enjoy, I think, the lighter frames and smooth gear changes.  For me, what I notice about the lighter frame is that it makes the hills a lot more comfortable – though disappointingly not faster – that still seems to be down to personal physical fitness! Tonight it was David Byfield’s turn to unveil his  latest acquisition and he was really whizzing along on his Boardman hybrid, purchased to replace his mountain bike.  We wish you many years of enjoyment with it, David.

A puncture for Dave Ball on the way back along the Drains Valley (with, thankfully, a good tail wind) – but he made light work of it and we were soon on our way.

Looking forward to our summer programme of Wednesday evening rides!
