This ride represented a much appreciated final opportunity to turn my legs a bit before the Ride London 100 on 31st July. Pete and I had hoped our Wales trip would provide all the final training we needed but that trip had had to be cut short so that Pete could get back to London for an interview and I thought I needed a few more hours training before the big day. I had dutifully gone along on the Tuesday night for my spinning class and now this lovely Wednesday night ride out before the week of rest. Our route to Minions was via Pengover Green, Merrymeet, Pensilva, Crowsnest and Common Moor. A nice drink at the Cheesewring and a chance to catch up on holidays and other events – Ann was preparing for her half marathon on Dartmoor and then the Rat Race and I had a big horse event coming up on the 24th.
And then, as the sun was setting we had the pleasure of sailing down the hill to, in my case, Liskeard, and for Ann, to St. Keyne. My bicycle would go back to Russell at Liskeard Cycles the next morning for its final checks. Fingers crossed that we have done enough then for our big Ride London 100.
