Thursday 23rd June 2016 – on a sad and signficant day for Britain a report on a gentle evening pub ride and a watery ride for Ann and Geoff finishing with a pleasant exchange with the Teign Valley Pedal Bashers

I think none of us had quite seen what was coming when we set off on last Wednesday’s pub ride to The Victoria at Pensilva (nice new route, Ann, thank you!) –  and good to have George with us.  Then yesterday Geoff and I took the bikes on the train to Newton Abbot for our trip round the rivers and estuaries of south Devon – delighting in the beauty of the Teign, the Exe, the Clyst and the Otter and their various villages and seaside resorts.  Thank you to sustrans route 2 for help with the route!  We were very tired and desperate for some meat by the time we arrived back in Newton Abbot couldn’t wait to tuck into a takeaway.  It was lovely to meet up here with the Teign Valley Pedal Bashers as they were about to set off for their mid week evening ride – but we were only too happy to refuse their offer that we should join them!

Home then to watch the momentous events unfold over night over Europe.  I hope we know what we have done!
