14 degrees centigrade as the six of us assembled for our Christmas send-off ride at the Liskeard Christmas tree. If our “start of the ride pic” looks slightly odd with Mason-like salutes and body hugs, this was our group trying to cover the reflective parts of our garments to encourage my camera to behave. We hope we haven’t given any false impressions!
Much of the ride up to Minions was punctuated with stops to remove excess clothing. In truth, I think we could have ridden over Bodmin Moor tonight in vests and shorts – incredible!
Still lovely to be out and again a warm welcome at The Cheesewring, the highest pub in Cornwall with, as far as we can tell, the lowest prices.
A very relaxed drink and an opportunity to reflect again on our lovely shared cycle adventures throughout 2015 – my favourite, I think, was the camping week-end at St. Agnes – that lovely breakfast together overlooking the sea before setting off back towards Liskeard in the sun; also perhaps the Rame Head ride at the beginning of November; and what about that beautiful night ride for St. Luke’s Hospice. Personally, I will never forget my End to End ride with Pete, my son. Such a great adventure and still unbelievable to me that everything came together to make it work successfully.
We all looked forward to some potentially wonderful trips in 2016, including another camping/hostelling week end; and possibly a trip to the very beautiful Lizard Point. We are so lucky to have Cornwall and Devon to share with our cycling friends. Merry Christmas, everyone!
We hope some of you will be able to join us for our Liskeard Velo ride on 27th December. A gentle flat ride along the Camel Trail from Bodmin Steam Railway Station to Padstow (meet 9.30 am). Might be an idea to bring hybrids or mountain bikes for this one. Hope to see you there!
